WCRW Monthly Minutes ⋆

MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2026

At 11:30 AM on October 5th the WCRW met for lunch and the monthly meeting.  President, Deborah Peppers welcomed everyone and Nita Hyatt gave the invocation.  Mary Ann Schultz led the pledges to the American and Texas flags. There were 18 members present.  Susan Marburger reminded everyone to turn in their volunteer hours by October 13th.

Sandi Kendt announced the speakers for the November 2nd meeting are Sam Pohl and Ben Crockett.  They are from the Public Policy Foundation and will give us information about private property and tax relief.  On January 4, 2027 Tom Maynard from the State Board of Education will speak, and Michael Quinn Sullivan will address us on February 2, 2027.  He is from the Publishers Texas Scoreboard.  She also reminded us to get our tickets for the Reagan Dinner on October 27th.  Joey Jones from Fox News will be our speaker.

Rockie Rexroad reminded the group that early voting begins October 19th through October 30th.  She also reminded everyone that she can help people to register.

With the absence of Treasurer, Kathryn Van Der Pol, there was not a report, but Deborah said we are in good shape financially at the moment.  Kathryn will be giving a 6 week seminar on Communism at the Chappell Hill Methodist Church.  Information can be found on her website.

Debbie Mikowski asked for volunteers to send letters to Christians who do not vote in the midterms or local elections.  By not voting, you are basically voting for the opposition.  The organization that is working hard to turn out the vote is WRITENOWAMERICA.ORG.

Deborah recognized Rockie for revamping our website page and improving the information on the site.  She then passed out a list to remind us why we vote Republican.

Our speaker, Elizabeth Hook, was introduced.  She is an 18 year old freshman at Texas A&M majoring in Agriculture Economics.  She is from a six generation farm family whose farm is south of Lubbock.  She is a part of and holds offices in many conservative movements at Texas A&M; one of them being Turning Point USA.

She is working diligently to get her generation to participate in America’s elections.  She stresses faith, hard work and responsibility.  If you care, participate!  She also reminds older voters to give young people something to care about and give them the opportunity to be a part.  In other words, make an investment in their future by giving them a reason to be a good citizen and vote.  All need to know what happens in their community and their country.  A good place to start is to learn the Constitution.  The young want a country worth working and fighting for.  Don’t mistake “young” for being incapable.  Believe in them and invite them in.

Rockie reminded everyone about the Election Rally at the corner of Day Street and Tom Green on Saturday, October 24th in the morning.  Also everyone should pick up a candidate sign to display.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

                             Respectfully submitted,

                              Nita Hyatt, Secretary
